Show me what you got, 2015!


It still amazes me sometimes that I am a runner. It truly is not something I ever imagined I would do. Run. Really? Yep. Me, a runner. And not only that, but I do actually love it. Well, most of the time, anyway.

So, what does 2015 have in store for me, Celeste Edenloff, Miss Confessions of a [former] Fat Girl? I’m not sure, but I expect a lot of running. Why? I have goals to meet. More specifically, I have a goal to run at least 672 miles for the year. Why such an odd amount? Because I, along with my husband, Al, and our friend, Tonya, have joined forces to complete the Run 2,015 in 2015 challenge. The challenge is hosted by Run the Edge, a running website created by Tim Catalano and Adam Goucher, husband of Kara Goucher, a long-distance Olympic runner, who is such an inspiration.

The challenge isn’t just for runners, walkers can participate as well. And, you don’t have to do the challenge by yourself. If you want, you can surely do it on your own and kudos to you if you do! That would be a huge accomplishment. Al and I thought about doing it together as a duo, but that seemed like kind of a stretch. That would mean that each of us would have to run 1,007.5 miles. Last year, neither of us hit 800 for the year. I knew I wanted to do the challenge but it would be so much better if there was a third person and who better to do the challenge with us than our friend, Tonya! Like me, Tonya is always up for a challenge and like me, she likes to set goals. So, after a couple minutes of texting each other back and forth, our team was formed.

2015 will be a year of ACTion for team ACT Runners. Do you get it? ACT? A for Al, C for Celeste and T for Tonya. Pretty clever, huh?

I printed off the spreadsheet from the website for Al and I to use and hung them on the fridge so we can keep track, as well as have a visual of our progress.

I took the picture yesterday right after I hung them up. They look a little different today – we both have 6.2 miles listed. I have 3.1 from yesterday and today and Al has 6.2 from today. Tonya already has 8.5, so our team is already 20.9 miles into the challenge! Go team ACT Runners!

After my run, I took a photo with the 2,015 miles in 2015 challenge bib that I printed from the website.

And today, after Al ran, I took a photo of us with Al holding the bib because today was his first mile of the challenge.

So, what else does 2015 have in store for us? I think there are plans of running three half-marathons this year. Or at least that’s what I keep telling the hubby! We did one in 2012, one in 2013, two in 2014, so it just seems right that we do three in 2015! We are already signed up for one – the Fargo Half-Marathon in May. Now, we just need to find two more! I’m sure that won’t be a problem!
