Inspiring, uplifting, motivating and much more

Back in August, I had the privilege of attending a first-ever event in Alexandria – the Ignite Women’s Conference. (You can read all about it here.) The conference was led by Heather Godfrey, whom at the time, I had never met.

It was kind of by chance that I ended up going to that conference – (Thank you, Drea Eidsvold – L.E.A.N by Drea for letting me know about it!) And, I have to say, I am so happy and ever so grateful that I was able to attend. You see, going to that conference not only led me to meet Heather Godfrey, but it led to so much more!

Heather and her husband, Jon, own Vital Fit Club in Alexandria. After meeting Heather at the conference, we started chit-chatting through emails and then had a couple of face-to-face meetings. I sent a job proposal to Heather because I wanted to start working at the fitness club. The proposal wasn’t approved and it looked like that was the end. But, because of what I learned at the conference, I didn’t drop it. I kept pushing. And, we kept communicating through emails and eventually, we worked something out.

On September 1 of this year, I started working part-time at Vital Fit Club. I got my foot in the door. And hopefully/eventually, it leads to a full-time job!

I have been a member of several different fitness clubs and to be honest, I thought they were all the same. BUT…I am here to tell you, they are not. And, I am not just saying this because I now work at Vital Fit Club (see disclaimer at the end).

There is so much to say about this place. I have never felt more “at home” then I do when I am there – whether it’s working or working out. This fitness center is more than just a place to work out. The atmosphere is so uplifting, the conversations are enlightening, the members are like family (both caring and genuinely friendly), the classes are challenging AND fun, the instructors are more than motivating and inspiring, and the staff – well, what can I say about the staff? They are the best. Seriously. Actually, not that I want to single anyone out, but I want to single someone out. I’m talking about Kayla.

Kayla is the manager of Vital Fit Club and let me tell you, that girl knows her stuff. Yes, Heather and Jon own the business, but Kayla keeps it running in tip-top shape. At 20-something years old, I am so impressed by her maturity, her professionalism, her kindness, her wisdom, her everything. She is super sweet, motivating, caring and just all-around nice. She is seriously the bomb. Thanks, Kayla, for your belief in me and for making me believe in myself when I have doubts. Thanks for treating me with such respect…and for your patience. You are amazing!

Both Heather and Jon, who by the way, is also a chiropractor at Godfrey Chiropractic & Wellness in Alexandria, are committed to helping people live a healthier, happier and more fit life. They are two amazing people that I am now excited to say I have the privilege of knowing and of working for. (I honestly could write a whole blog just about Heather – this girl is more than AH-MAY-ZING! Seriously, she blows my mind sometimes – her passion, her drive, her everything. She is THE BEST!)

If you are thinking about joining a fitness facility in the Alexandria Lakes Area, I highly recommend Vital Fit Club. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed. The club, which is open 24-hours for its members, is so welcoming and has so much to offer – a variety of fitness classes, fun events (see below) racquetball courts, tanning, spa, Bee Active Boutique and so much more. Seriously, you need to check it out.
