It’s been a whirlwind two weeks…I can’t believe it’s been that long since I last posted. Shame. On. Me.

So, what’s been happening?

Well, since my last post, I ran my third Women Rock 10K, my first Victory Labor Day 10K and my third Graniteman 10K. I guess you can say I’ve been a little busy.

Here’s some pics from the races:

women rock

Women Rock – my time was 1:06:27. Not the best, but then again, not the worst. This one is so up and down. Check out the elevation, along with my pace, from my Garmin watch:

Pretty crazy, huh?

victory labor day 10k

Victory Labor Day 10K – my time was 1:06:20 (a few seconds better than Women Rock!) and Al’s time was 51:40. This seemed, for some strange reason, like the LONGEST 10K I have ever done in my life. Like it’s known for, the course is fast and flat, but for some reason it just seemed long. My watch did say 6.3 miles instead of the 6.2 miles, which is what a 10K should be. But nonetheless it was still fun. We met an 88-year-old runner, Burt Carlson, who has ran more than 300 marathons in his running career, which spans about 30-plus years. He wasn’t always a runner. Al and I talked with him after the race and I told him he gave me hope and was a huge inspiration to me. I pray to God I am still able to run when I am his age. Seriously, he was the cutest little old man! You can check out the Minnesota Distance Running Association Facebook page and if you scroll down far enough, you’ll see a picture of Burt. Seriously, so awesome!

Graniteman 10K – I finished in 1:05:29 and Al finished in 51:25. We were both very happy with our times for this course and this race, as we both trimmed off about two minutes from our previous year’s times. Also, my good friend, Tonya, ran this race, too, and totally crushed her previous time. So proud of her. Seriously, I love her. She is such an awesome person. You can check out her new blog, “butterflyification,” at She amazes and inspires me!

three of us at graniteman

The three of us made quite the rainbow of color when we stood all together! To say that Tonya loves orange is an understatement! It was such a fun morning.

Meanwhile, as we were running the 10K in St. Cloud, a friend of mine was running her very first half-marathon in Detroit Lakes – the Dick Beardsley half marathon. Krista just started running not that long ago and set her sights on the half-marathon. AND……SHE ROCKED IT! She finished in 2:12:44. I am so proud of her and I really hope she doesn’t mind, but I have to share her picture. She DOES NOT look like she just finished running her very first half-marathon does she? Nope. She looks fabulous. Way to go, Krista. Again, I am soooooooo proud of you!

Okay, so what else has been happening? Well………

I also started a new part-time job – working the front desk at Vital Fit Club in Alexandria, which is owned by Heather Godfrey and her husband, Jon. Heather is one of the most motivational,  inspirational, real and genuine persons I have met. I am so thankful to have met her and to have her in my life. She took a chance on me and I am not going to let her down. She’s great at pushing people and helping them get after their goals, dreams and desires. I really feel like she believes in me and that means more than I can even explain. My goal – at some point (hopefully soon) – is to become an ACE certified personal trainer, maybe even teach some fitness classes and then, eventually become a running coach. That would be SO awesome! Yes, I realize that I am one of the slowest runners ever, but I know running. I love running. Running is my life. It is what I do, live, breathe.

We’ll just see what develops.

stickers on car

This is where I park at Vital Fit Club. I just posted this so you could check out the new bling on my car. Thanks to my husband for buying me these stickers and thanks to my son for putting the on my car. I LOVE THEM! Let’s hope no one steals them like what happened to my 13.1 magnet I had!

Oh, by the way, I do have some other stuff in the works, but it is too early yet to tell. I will say that as much as I have loved my life over the last five years, I am excited for what is to come and what I have to look forward to. Please stay tuned.

do what you love

This is a shirt I recently bought at JCP. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. And, I agree wholeheartedly with it!
