Meet the Fat Girl…

Okay, so I have decided to come clean. Meaning, I am revealing my identity for those who don’t already know who I am. So, here goes:

My name is Celeste and I am almost 37 years old…my birthday is next month. I live in Alexandria, Minnesota and am a reporter for the local newspaper. I am married to a wonderful man and I have an awesome teenage son, as if you didn’t already know that. I guess I do talk about them in my blog.

I am the baby of my family…I have four older brothers and two older sisters. I love them all dearly. My parents are still alive and I love them just as much. I cherish them dearly. So, not much else to tell in that department.

So, why "Fat Girl?"

I go by Fat Girl, which is kind of like Batman, but better! The name is not meant to be derogatory. At a very low point in my life, I needed a username or password for something and at the time, that is how I felt, like a big…fat…girl. The name kind of stuck…and plus, it kind of reminds me of Batman and makes me think that I am a superhero! (Kind of!)

I am including pictures of myself, although they were kind of hard to find. I don’t really like to be photographed.

This is me at the 2008 3-Day, 60-Mile Breast Cancer Walk in the Twin Cities. Not sure what my weight was here, but I didn’t realize how fat I was until I saw the pictures.

This is in October of 2008 on my wedding day. My husband and I got married in a hot air balloon overlooking the vineyards of Napa Valley, California. I was standing next to our limo driver. Hate this picture. This was one month before I started Weight Watchers.

This was taken in June of 2009. At this point, I had lost nearly 30 pounds.

This was taken at the end of June. I am pictured with William Hung, a contestant from American Idol. He was the guest at a baseball game in Alexandria. Yes, he sang, "She Bangs!" I like this picture because for the first time, my arms look kind of skinny. Silly, I know.

My son and I at a wedding on August 8, 2009. I actually like this picture because it is the first one I can really tell I have lost weight. Plus, it’s a great picture of my son.

So, now you know who I am. If you have any questions about my new healthy eating journey, feel free to send me an e-mail at Or just post a comment here.

Take care and thanks for reading.

  1. Weight Watchers has worked for me as well: I’ve reached my goal and gained it back three times, but this fourth time I’ve kept if off for almost a year! It’s something we have to keep working on for the rest of our lives. I’m glad you’re feeling better about yourself: Keep up the good work!

  2. Weight Watchers changed my life forever! I joined on Oct. 10, 2007. I weighed in at 202 lbs. It took 52 weeks to lose 52 lbs., and now people who were in our wedding, do not recognize me any more. More has changed than my physical appearance. I have new confidence, energy and determination to live the rest of my life as healthy as I can. I am now 150lbs. and run 2 1/2 mile every morning (there was a time when I had a hard time walking 1 mile, let alone running 2 1/2 miles, I have started wakeboarding, skiing and rollerblading. My two boys love that mom is on the go with them, and can keep up. Thank you for sharing your story:)
